Jack's Cats

The Past:
Swing clarinetist & saxman Jack Malmstrom and his Cats recently stepped out of the late 1940s and arrived in present day Los Angeles to the delight and occasional bewilderment of vintage jazz fans and swing dancers. The Cats are grateful to maintain a very active schedule holding forth with their unique brand of “Pre-Bop” swing. For an abbreviated summary of some of their past adventures see Our Scrapbook.

The Present:
Audiences are amused to discover the Cats’ play list overflows with one half hand-picked standards, one half forgotten gems… and a third-half, Jack’s Cats originals done in a period style. Earlier this year they released a new collection of all original songs, “Jack’s Cats: The State of Swing.” Dancing — as well as listening — is encouraged.

The Future:
